Aspinalls Casino Games Help
Sic Bo is a Chinese word for “dice pair”. The game itself originates in ancient China. In spite of the name, three dice are used in the game. The idea of the game is simple – you make a bet on a certain kind of a dice roll result. Then the dice are rolled. If the result you bet on does appear, you win; if it does not, you lose your bet.
Click on a chip of desired value to select it. Then click on any bet area on the table to place your bet there (a list of available bets is shown in the Sic Bo Bets section). Every click on the area adds one chip to the bet. Select another chip if you wish to increase the bet by some other amount. Right clicking on the area removes one chip. You can place several chips into several areas at the same time.
Click the Roll button.
Dice are now rolled and you will see the game result. Click New Game if you wish to play again. Place your bets as described above and click Roll. You can also click Rebet to place the same bet as in the previous round.

Sic Bo Bets
You may place multiple bets at the same time. You can identify the different bet areas on the table by placing the cursor on an area and reading the info text on the status bar (the low edge of the screen). Sic Bo features the following betting options: Small/Big Bet:
Status bar info text on these areas is “Small” or “Big”. Small Bet wins if the total sum of the three dice is 4 to 10. Big Bet wins on a total of 11 to 18. Neither Small nor Big Bet wins if the three dice are of the same number (three of a kind).

The Small and Big Bet payoff ratio is 1 to 1.

Number Bet:
Placing a number bet means you want a specific number to appear on as many dice as possible. Select a number from 1 to 6 and place your chip(s) on the corresponding area. Status bar info text for these areas is “One”, “Two”, “Three”, etc. If the chosen number appears 1 time your bet pays 1 to 1, if it appears 2 times your bet pays 2 to 1 and if it appears 3 to 1 your bet pays 3 to 1.

Pair Bet:
Make a bet on any of the 15 possible two dice combinations (for example 3 and 4; 2 and 5 or 2 and 6). Status bar info text for these bets is “Pair”. If both numbers appear, your bet pays 5 to 1.

Total Bet:
Placing a total bet means you want the total sum of the three dice to be a certain amount. Possible totals are from 4 to 17. 3 and 18 (which are also possible with three dice) are excluded. Status bar info text for these bet areas is “Total of 4”, “Total of 5”, “Total of 6”, etc.

The pay ratios for the total bet depends on the sum:

Total of 4 60 to 1
Total of 5 30 to 1
Total of 6 17 to 1
Total of 7 12 to 1
Total of 8 8 to 1
Total of 9 6 to 1
Total of 10 6 to 1
Total of 11 6 to 1
Total of 12 6 to 1
Total of 13 8 to 1
Total of 14 12 to 1
Total of 15 17 to 1
Total of 16 30 to 1
Total of 17 60 to 1

Double Bet:
You bet on a specific pair to appear (for example, two 3’s). Status bar info text for these areas is “Double One”, “Double Two”, “Double Three”, etc. If at least two of the number chosen appear, you win 10 to 1.

Triple Bet:
You bet on a specific triple to appear (for example, three 2’s). Status bar info text for there areas is “Triple One”, “Triple Two”, “Triple Three”, etc. If the chosen triple appears, you win 180 to 1.

Any Triple:
You win if all three dice have the same number (any three of a kind). Status bar info text for this area is “Any Triple”. Payoff ratio for this bet is 30 to 1.

Back to Sic Bo Page.

Aspinalls Red Dog Poker
In Red Dog Poker, number cards count as their face value, Jack is 11, Queen is 12, King is 13 and Ace is 14. The suit is irrelevant.
First, click on the chips to place a bet. To remove chips from the bet, right click on the chips.
Click on the Deal button.
Two cards are drawn. If the cards are consecutive, it is a push (your wager is returned to you and the round is over). If the cards are equal, a third card is drawn. If it matches the first two cards, you win 11 to 1; otherwise it is a push.
If the two cards are neither consecutive nor equal, the spread is established. The spread is the number of card values between the two cards. For example – 2 and 4 have a spread of 1; 6 and a Queen have a spread of 5.
Now you have the option to raise (double) your bet or to call (continue without raising). Press Raise or Call respectively.
A third card is drawn. If it is between the two cards, you win according to the payout table (seen on the card table). If it matches one of the two cards or is outside the spread, you lose.
Click New Game if you wish to play again. Place a bet as described above, or click Rebet to place the same bet again.

Pai Gow Poker Rules
In Pai Gow Poker, the object is to divide your seven card hand into a five-card (“Highest”) and a two-card hand (“2nd Highest”). The five-card hand must always outrank the two-card hand (hence the names “Highest” and “2nd Highest”). The five-card hand is ranked as in Poker, except that an A-2-3-4-5 straight is the second highest straight. The two-card hand can be either a pair or individual cards. The highest two-card hand is a pair of aces and the lowest is a 2-3. You can divide your hand yourself, or let the computer split it, using a method called the House Way (see below).

Pai Gow Poker is played using a standard 53 card deck, including a Joker. The joker can only be used to complete a straight, flush, or straight flush, otherwise it is treated as an ace.

House Way

The House Way is a set of rules that describes how the dealer arranges his hand. You can use the House Way on your own hand as well, by clicking the House Way button.

The "front" refers to the two card hand and the "back" refers to the five card hand.
No pair: Place the highest card in the back and the next two highest cards in the front.
One pair: Place the pair in back and the next two highest cards in the front.
Two pair: Play two pair in back, except split in the following situations:
One pair is 7's or greater and no ace singleton.
Pair of jacks or better and 6's or better and an ace singleton.
Pair of aces and any other pair.
Three pair: Always play highest pair in front.
Three of a kind: Always play three of a kind in back except break up three aces.
Full house: Split except with pair of 2's and an ace/king can be played in front.
Full house with three of a kind and two pairs: Play the highest pair in front.
Three of a kind twice: Always play highest pair in front.
Straights, flushes, straight flushes, and royal flushes:
Always play straight or flush in the high hand except play as a two pair if one of the following:
Any two pair and an ace singleton.
Pair of jacks and pair of 6's.
Pair of aces and any other pair.
With a six or seven card straight or flush put the highest hand possible in front while maintaining the straight or flush in back.
Play staight or flush over straight flush to improve front hand to jack or better.
Play staight or flush over royal flush to improve front hand to king or better.
Four of a kind: Play according to the rank of the four of a kind:
2 through 6: Always keep together.
7 through 10: Split unless an ace or better can be played in front.
Jack through king: Split unless hand also contains a pair of 10's or higher.
Aces: Split unless a pair of 7's or higher can be played in front.
Five aces: Split unless pair of kings can be played in front.
After the hands have been arranged, your hands are compared to these of the dealer’s and the winner is determined:
If both the dealer’s hands are higher, you lose your bet.
If one of the dealer’s hands is higher, one lower, it is a push and your bet is returned.
If both your hands are higher, you win even money on your bet (1 to 1) minus 5% bank commission.
In case of an exact match between hands (called a copy) the tie goes to the banker.

Back to Pai Gow Poker Page.

Aspinalls Pai Gow Poker
Pai Gow Poker is a combination of Poker and an ancient Chinese game Pai Gow. If you are not familiar with Pai Gow Rules, read them here.
Player receives seven cards, which he/she splits into two hands – a five card hand and a two card hand. The object is to beat the dealer.
First, place a bet by selecting a chip and clicking on the Bet area in the middle of the table. Place multiple chips if you want. To remove a chip from the bet field, right click on it.
Click on Deal.
You receive seven cards. Leave five of them in the “Highest” hand and select two that go to the “2nd Highest” hand. To send a card to the “2nd Highest” hand, just click on it. To send it back to the “Highest” hand, click on it again. The five-card hand (or the “Highest”) must always outrank the two-card hand (or the “2nd Highest”). You can also click the House Way button to let the computer select your hands in a certain manner (see the Rules for more info).
Click on Done (if you did not press House Way).
The dealer’s cards are revealed. If both the dealer’s hands are higher than yours, you lose your bet. If one of you hands is higher and the other is lower, the round results as a push and your bet is returned. If both your hands are higher, you win even money on your bet (1 to 1) minus 5% bank commission. In case of an exact match between hands (called a copy) the tie goes to the banker.

Aspinalls Let Them Ride Poker
To play the game:
Place three equal-sized bets. To do this, click on a chip of desired value to select it. Then move your cursor to the middle of the screen over the area “$”, “1” or “2” and click on any of them. Every click on the area adds one chip to the bet. Select another chip if you wish to increase the bet by some other amount. Right clicking on the area removes one chip.
Click the Deal button.
You receive three cards. Two community cards are placed at the top of the screen face down. Your goal is to form as good a hand as possible with your three cards and the two community cards. You have the option to remove one of your bets, if you think your hand is weak – click the Pull Out button. If you do not want to remove a bet, click Let Them Ride.
Now one of the community cards is turned over. Again you have the option to pull out one of your bets. Click Pull Out or Let Them Ride.
Now the second community card is turned over. You receive a winning if you have a winning hand. If not, you lose your remaining bets. The winning table is on the left side of the table. European Roulette Rules
There are many different ways to place roulette bets in European Roulette. Each bet covers a different set of numbers and has a different distribution. The payouts for all bets are listed in the "Winnings Table" below.

Straight Up
You can bet on any number, including 0, by placing the chip on the center of a number. The maximum bet for this wager is indicated on the Roulette table (see the Max sign).

Split Bet
You can bet on two numbers by placing a chip on the line that divides the two numbers. The maximum bet for this wager is the Straight Up bet maximum, multiplied by two.

Street Bet
To bet on a row of three numbers (a street), place a chip on the boundary line of the roulette table, at the end of the corresponding row. The maximum bet for this wager is the Straight Up bet maximum, multiplied by three.

Corner Bet
You can bet on four numbers by placing chips at the corner where the four numbers meet. The maximum bet for this wager is the Straight Up bet maximum, multiplied by four.

Four Bet
You can bet on the numbers 0, 1, 2, and 3 by placing your chip on the boundary line, where the line between 0 and the first row intersects it. The maximum bet for this wager is the Straight Up bet maximum, multiplied by four.

Line Bet
You can bet on two street bets (i.e., the six different numbers in two rows of three numbers), by placing your chip on the boundary line of the roulette table where the line dividing the two rows intersects it. The maximum bet for this wager is the Straight Up bet maximum, multiplied by six.

Column Bet
There are three boxes labelled "2 to 1" at the bottom of each column of numbers. You can place bets for all numbers in a column by placing chip(s) in one of these boxes. If any of the numbers in the selected column is hit you get paid 2:1; 0 is a losing number. The maximum bet for this wager is the Straight Up bet maximum, multiplied by ten.

Dozen Bet
You can bet on a group of twelve numbers by placing your chip in one of the three boxes marked "1st 12," "2nd 12," or "3rd 12." If one of your 12 numbers is hit, you are paid 2:1; 0 is a losing number. The maximum bet for this wager is the Straight Up bet maximum, multiplied by ten.

Red/Black, Even/Odd, Low/High Bets
You can place a bet in one of the boxes along the long side of the table that covers half of the numbers on the roulette table (excluding 0). Each box covers 18 numbers. You win even money (1 to 1) on all of these bets; 0 is a losing number. The maximum bet for this wager is the Straight Up bet maximum, multiplied by 20.

Minimum table bet
There is a minimum table bet, meaning that all your bets added together (your total bet), must equal at least the minimum value indicated on the table (see the Min sign).

Winning Number Display
The winning number display shows the results of the previous 13 spins.

Craps Rules
The first roll in a Craps round is called the come out roll. If the dice total is 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 then the point is established. On the other hand a total of 2, 3, 7, 11, or 12 on the come out roll immediately ends the round. When the point has been established, an “ON” puck will be placed on the point. After the point is rolled the dice will be rolled continuously until the same point is rolled again or a 7.

Pass Line Bets
The pass line bet is placed on the pass line before the come out roll. If you roll a 7 or 11, you win and the round is done. If you roll a 2, 3, or 12, it is craps and you lose. Any other number (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10) becomes the point. You win the pass line bet if the point is rolled before a 7. You lose the pass line bet, if a 7 is rolled before the point. A winning pass line bet pays even money (1 to 1).

Don’t Pass Line Bets
A don’t pass line bet is the opposite of a pass line bet, and is placed on the craps table in the “Don’t Pass Bar” before the come out roll. In a don’t pass line bet, you are betting that the shooter will roll 7 before rolling the point. You win on the come out roll if you roll craps (2 or 3), and on any other roll if it is 7. If the come out roll is 12, a don’t pass line bet is returned to the player in a push. You lose on the come out roll if it is either 7 or 11, and on any other roll if it is the point.

A winning don’t pass line bet pays even money (1 to 1).

Come Bets
To place a come bet, put your chips in the box labeled Come. You win even money if the next roll is either a 7 or 11. You lose if the next roll is craps (2, 3, or 12). If the shooter rolls a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, then that number becomes the come point, and the come bet is moved from the “COME” bar to the box corresponding to the come point. If the shooter rolls the come point again before rolling a 7, you win the bet. If a 7 is rolled first, you lose the bet. The come bet pays even money (1 to 1).

Don’t Come Bets
A don’t come bet is the opposite of a come bet. It is placed after the come out roll in the “Don’t Come Bar” on the craps table. If the shooter rolls a 3 or 2, the don’t come bet wins. If the shooter rolls a 7 or 11, the don’t come bet loses. If the shooter rolls a 12, the bet will be returned to the player in a push.

If the roll is a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, that number becomes the “don’t come point,” and the don’t come bet is moved from the “Don’t Come Bar” to the bar in the upper left corner of the box corresponding to the don’t come point. Once the don’t come point is established, don’t come bets win even money (1 to 1) if a 7 is rolled, and lose if the don’t come point is rolled.

Odds Bets
An odds bet is a backup bet on a pass, don’t pass, come, and don’t come bet. Your maximum bet is three times your original bet.

Pass odds and come odds pay 2 to 1 on a roll of 4 or 10, 3 to 2 on a roll of 5 and 9, and 6 to 5 on a roll of 6 and 8. Don’t pass odds pay 1 to 2 on a roll of 4 or 10, 2 to 3 on a roll of 5 and 9, 5 to 6 on a roll of 6 and 8.

Unlike original pass, don’t pass, come, don’t come bets, and unresolved odds bets can be removed from the table during play.

Pass Line Odds Bets
Place a pass line odds bet by clicking on the craps table outside of the “PASS LINE” bar, under your original pass line bet. A winning pass line odds bet pays true odds: 2 to 1 on a roll of 4 or 10, 3 to 2 on a roll of 5 or 9, and 6 to 5 on a roll of 6 or 8.

Don’t Pass Line Odds Bets
Place a don’t pass line odds bet by clicking on the right side of your original bet in the “Don’t Pass Bar”, exactly on the 6x6 dice image. A winning don’t pass line odds bet pays true odds: 1 to 2 on a roll of 4 or 10, 2 to 3 on a roll of 5 or 9, and 5 to 6 on a roll of 6 or 8.

Come and Don’t Come Odds Bets
Come and don’t come odds bets are placed beneath the Come and Don’t come bets, after they have been moved to the point’s box.

A winning come bet odds pays: 2 to 1 on a roll of 4 or 10, 3 to 2 on a roll of 5 or 9, and 6 to 5 on a roll of 6 or 8.

A winning don’t come bet odds pays: 1 to 2 on a roll of 4 or 10, 2 to 3 on a roll of 5 or 9, and 5 to 6 on a roll of 6 or 8.

Field Bets
A field bet bets that the next roll of the dice will be a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12. To place a field bet, place your chips in the Field bar. If the shooter rolls a 2 or 12, you get paid double your initial bet (2 to 1). If a 3, 4, 9, 10, or 11 comes up, you get paid even money (1 to 1). You lose the bet if a 5, 6, 7, or 8 is rolled.

Big 6 and Big 8 Bets
Place your chips in the box marked Big 6 or Big 8. If the number you select is rolled before a 7, you win even money (1 to 1).

Place Win Bets
Place bets are made on: 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. Place your chips in the box underneath these numbers. You are allowed to make place bets at any time. You win if the shooter rolls your number before a seven. The payouts depend on the number you bet on:

Number: Payout:
6 and 8 7 to 6
5 and 9 7 to 5
4 and 10 9 to 5

Place Lose Bets
Place Lose bets are just like Place Win bets, except you are paid if the shooter rolls a seven before the number you bet on. Place your chips in the box above these numbers. The payouts depend on the number you bet on:

Number: Payout:
6 and 8 4 to 5
5 and 9 5 to 8
4 and 10 5 to 11

Buy Bets
A buy bet is the same as a place bet with the exception being the payout. To distinguish the buy bet from a come bet, the buy bet is labeled with a “BUY” marker When winning a Buy bet, a 5% commission (vigorish) is charged. Your winnings are paid at true odds: 6 to 5 on numbers 6 and 8, 3 to 2 on numbers 5 and 9, and 2 to 1 on numbers 4 and 10.

Lay Bets
A lay bet is the opposite of a buy bet. A lay bet is labeled with a “LAY” marker. It bets that a 7 will be rolled before a 4, 6, 8, 9, or 10. It is a bet against the dice, which means you win if a 7 is rolled before the number you selected. When winning the Lay bet, a 5% commission (vigorish) is charged. Lay bet winnings are paid at true odds: 5 to 6 on numbers 6 and 8, 2 to 3 on numbers 5 and 9, and 1 to 2 on numbers 4 and 10.

Any 7 Bets
Place your chips in the area “Seven”. You win this bet if a 7 is rolled on the next toss of the dice.

This bet pays 4 to 1.

Any 11 Bets
Place your chips in the box with the two dice that add up to 11. You win this bet if an 11 is rolled in the next toss of the dice. If 11 is rolled, you win 15 times your bet.

Any Craps Bets
In any craps bet, you win if one of the craps numbers (2, 3, or 12) is rolled in the next toss of the dice. The any craps bet is placed in the “Any Craps” box.

This bet pays 7 to 1.

C & E Bets
The letters C and E represent two different bets:

C bet: This is the same as placing a bet on the “Any Craps” betting area. Click on the letter C to place your chips in the “Any Craps” betting area.

E bet: This is the same as placing a bet on the Any 11 bet. Click on the letter E to place your chips in the “Any 11” betting area.

Horn Bets
Place your chips in the box where the two dice add up to 2, 3, 11, or 12. The horn bet wins if the shooter rolls a 2, 3, 11 or 12 on the next toss of the dice. A winning horn bet pays 15 to 1 on the numbers 3 and 11 and 30 to 1 on numbers 2 and 12.

Hardway Bets
A Hardway bet bets that the shooter will roll a 4, 6, 8, or 10 as doubles (2+2, 3+3, 4+4, or 5+5) before rolling a 7. The Hardway bet is placed in the box on the craps table that contains the two dice that correspond to the number the doubles. Rolling a number by doubles is said to be rolling the number “the hard way.” An example is rolling a 4 with a 2 and a 2. An example of an easy way is rolling a 4 with a 3 and a 1. A winning Hardway bet pays 7 to 1 on numbers 4 and 10 and 9 to 1 on numbers 6 and 8.

Aspinalls Casino War
Casino War is probably the simplest of all casino games. The game is played with six decks. Cards are ranked thus (lowest to highest): 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace.
First, click on the chips to place a bet. To remove chips from the bet, right click on the chips on the table.
Click the Deal button.
The dealer and the player both draw a card. If your card is higher, you win even money (1 to 1) on your bet and the round is over. If the dealer’s card is higher, you lose your bet and the round is over. Click New Game if you want to play again.
If the cards are equal, you can surrender and lose half you bet (click Surrender) or go to war (click War).
War:
To go to war, you must raise your bet by the amount equal to your original wager. The dealer will then burn three cards and draw one card for each of you. If your card beats or equals the dealer’s, you win even money (1 to 1) on the raise; the original wager is returned to you. If the dealer’s card is higher, you lose both the original wager and the raise.

Tie Bet:
A tie bet is also available. To place a tie bet, click on the tie bet area in the middle of the screen. Click on a different chip to add a different amount to the tie bet. Right-click on the tie bet area to remove chips.

If your first card and the dealer’s first cards are equal, you win 10 to 1 on your tie bet.

Blackjack Switch Rules
The object of Blackjack Switch is for the total of your cards in either hand to be closer to 21 than the dealer’ s cards, without exceeding 21. Card values are the same as in standard Blackjack – aces count as either 1 or 11, face cards as 10, and number cards as their face value.

The rules are the same as in standard Blackjack (see here). Except you have two hands, which you play in turn – first the right and then the left one, then the dealer plays his hand. You may split, double, take insurance etc. just like in standard Blackjack. An exception from the standard Blackjack is that the dealer always hits soft 17 – meaning he always draws one more card when he has 17 with an ace counted as 11. Also, ‘Blackjacks’ pay 1/1 instead of 3/2 although more ‘Blackjacks’ are created due to the ‘switching’ option. (See below). Another exception is that Blackjack rule no. 5 (“If the player doubles and the dealer’s first card is of value 10, and the dealer gets blackjack, the player loses only the initial bet.”) does not apply in Blackjack Switch.

Switch
Prior to any hits, you may switch the top cards of your two hands.

Push 22
Dealer will “push” on a total of 22 (except 'Blackjacks' will still win). This means that whenever the dealer's total reaches 22 then all bets are 'pushed', regardless of their total except if a player has a ‘Blackjack’, which will still win.

Super Match
The small circle between the standard bet areas is the super bet area. The super bet wins if your initial 4 cards contain 2 or more matching cards. For example, if your right hand is a Queen and a Six, and your left hand a Queen and a King, you have a pair and your super bet wins. The win ratios are written on the table.

Summary Of Rules
Dealer Hits Soft 17
‘Blackjacks’ pay 1/1
Switch top cards of the two hands
All doubles and splitting allowed
Dealer pushes on 22 (except Blackjacks will still win)

Aspinalls Blackjack Switch
This game is a modification of Blackjack, so if you are familiar with Blackjack, you will have no trouble mastering this game. There are some important differences from the standard Blackjack however, so please first read the Blackjack Switch Rules, return to this page after you have learned the rules.

To play the game:
Select a chip by clicking on it. Now click on a bet area to increase your bet by the chip amount. Every click on the bet area increases your bet, every right-click decreases your bet.
There are two kinds of bet areas – normal and ‘Super Match’ bet. Normal bet area is any of the two larger areas, ‘Super Match’ bet area is the small area. Remember that by clicking on the normal bet area, you actually place two identical bets – one for each of your hands.
After you have placed your bets, click the Deal button.
Use the Hit, Stand, Double, Split, Insurance and Switch buttons as required.
Please note that if you want to Switch, you need to do so before starting to play your first hand. After using Hit, Split, Double or Insurance buttons, you cannot Switch. Also please note that Insurance, Double and Split buttons require an additional wager, as described in the rules. You are not able to use these buttons, if you do not have sufficient balance.
If you want to play another round, press New Game. Then place a bet as described above and click the Deal button, or click Rebet to place the same bet as in the previous round.
Super Match
This is an optional bet, you do not need to place a super bet to play the game. To place a super bet, place the chip(s) in the small circle between the normal bet areas. Super bet wins if your 4 initial cards contain 2 or more cards of the same kind (pair of Jacks, three Aces etc.) The win ratios are written on the table.

Blackjack Rules
The object of Blackjack is for the total of your cards to be closer to 21 than the dealer’s cards, without exceeding 21. In Blackjack, aces count as either 1 or 11, face cards as 10, and number cards as their face value.

If you receive an ace and a ten-value card as your first two cards, you have Blackjack and win one and a half times your bet (if you bet was $10, you receive $25). If the total value of your cards is closer to 21 than the dealer’s, you win as much as you had wagered (if your bet was $10, you receive $20). If the total of your cards is more than 21, you “bust” and lose your bet. If you and the dealer have the same card total (17 and up) neither of you win and your bet is returned to you in a “push”. Blackjack beats a score of 21.

Our Blackjack follows the standard “Las Vegas Strip” rules, with the following exceptions:
After each round, used cards are returned to the deck and the deck is shuffled.
The player may not split a split hand.
The player may double after splitting.
The dealer will not check for Blackjack in any case.
If the player doubles and the dealer's first card is of value 11 (ACE), and the dealer gets blackjack, the player loses both his bets.
Split
If your first two cards have the same point value, you may split them into two separate hands by placing a second bet equal to the original bet. You then proceed to draw cards. You may draw as many cards as you like on each split hand, but if you split two aces, you receive only one additional card for each ace. If you receive an ace and a ten-value card in a split hand, it is counted as 21 and not Blackjack.

Double
After you are dealt two cards, and think that another card will allow you to beat the dealer’s hand, you can increase your bet by an amount up to your original bet or “double” your bet. Your wager is doubled, and you are allowed to receive one more card.

Insurance
Insurance is considered to be a game of its own within Blackjack. If the dealer has an Ace as his up card, you’ll be given a chance to buy insurance. When you buy insurance, you’re betting that the dealer has a blackjack. It allows you to try and protect yourself when you think that the dealer may have Blackjack. When buying insurance, you place half of your initial bet by pressing the Insurance button. If the dealer does have Blackjack, you are paid 2 to 1 on your insurance bet. If the dealer doesn’t have Blackjack, you lose your insurance bet.

10 Card Charlie
It is theoretically possible for the player to draw 10 card without going bust. In this case the player’s hand automatically wins, except when the dealer has Blackjack.

Insurance 2 to 1
Blackjack 3 to 2

The object of baccarat is to obtain a hand with a point total closest to 9. Aces count as one; 2 through 9 as their face value; tens and picture cards count as zero. If the value of the hand is ten points or more, subtract ten, and the remainder is the baccarat point value of the hand. For example: 7+6=13=3 and 4+6=10=0

Place your wager on the banker’s hand and/or on the player’s hand and/or on a tie. The player and the banker are then each dealt a two-card hand. In certain cases, a third card is dealt to the player or the banker or both (Third Card Rules). Cards are dealt from a shoe that holds 6 decks of cards. The decks are shuffled each round.

The player closest to 9, wins.
If you bet on the player and the player wins, you are paid 2 for 1 winnings on your bet.
If you bet on the banker and the banker wins, you are paid 2 for 1 minus 5% bank commission (vigorish).
If both the player’s hand and the banker’s hand have equal totals, the game result is a ‘tie’. If you have placed a bet on the ‘tie’ field, your payoff is 9 for 1.

Third Card Rules
The following baccarat rule chart governs when the player and/or the banker will automatically be dealt (i.e. “draws”) a third card in the baccarat game:

8, 9 “Natural hand”, no further draw.

Banker

Two Cards: Draws when the player’s
third card is: Does not draw when the
player’s third card is:
0 - 2 Always draws a card.
3 0 - 9 8
4 2 - 7 0, 1, 8, 9
5 4, 6, 7 0 - 3, 8, 9
6 6, 7 0 - 5, 8, 9
7 Always stands.
8, 9 Player cannot draw. Player cannot draw.

Important note: If either the player and /or the Banker has a total of 8 or 9, they both stand. This Rule overrides all other rules.

American Roulette Rules
There are many different ways to place roulette bets in American Roulette. Each bet covers a different set of numbers and has a different distribution, as shown in the "Winnings Table" section. We offer double-zero roulette -- with 0 and 00 -- for more betting options. Straight Up
You can bet on any number, including 0 or 00, by placing the chip on the center of a number.

Five Bet
You can bet on the numbers 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3 by placing your chip on the boundary line, where the line between 0 and the first row intersects it. The maximum bet for this wager is the Straight Up bet maximum, multiplied by five.

If any of the numbers in the selected column is hit you get paid 2:1. 0 and 00 are losing numbers. The maximum bet for this wager is the Straight Up bet maximum, multiplied by ten.

Dozen Bet
You can bet on a group of twelve numbers by placing your chip in one of the three boxes marked "1st 12," "2nd 12," or "3rd 12." If one of your 12 numbers is hit, you are paid 2:1. 0 and 00 are losing numbers. The maximum bet for this wager is the Straight Up bet maximum, multiplied by ten.

Red/Black, Even/Odd, Low/High Bets
You can place a bet in one of the boxes along the long side of the table that covers half of the numbers on the roulette table (excluding 0). Each box covers 18 numbers. You win even money (1 to 1) on all of these bets; 0 and 00 are losing numbers. The maximum bet for this wager is the Straight Up bet maximum, multiplied by 20.

Minimum table bet
There is a minimum table bet, meaning that all your bets added together (your total bet), must equal at least the minimum value indicated on the table (see the Min sign).

Poker faces in London

Vikrant Bhargava, marketing director of PartyGaming

Nils Pratley
Saturday March 19, 2005
The Guardian

Donald Trump, Steve Wynn, Sol Kerzner, eat your hearts out. This is what a gambling tycoon of the internet age looks like. Vikrant Bhargava is a 32-year-old electrical engineer from Rajasthan who confesses he has never played a hand of poker in a real casino.
Poker, though, may be about to make him a fortune: Bhargava's 15% stake in PartyGaming, the company behind the world's most popular poker website, is worth roughly £450m, according to some City calculations.

Whatever Bhargava is worth, Anurag Dikshit, his old chum from the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, is worth more. Dikshit was a founder of PartyGaming in 1998 and owns about 40% of it. That equates to roughly £1.25bn on the same unofficial City valuations. Dikshit (pronounced Dixit) is a mere 33.

He is also, for the time being, shy of the media, which is why it falls to Bhargava, as marketing director, to conduct PartyGaming's first proper press interview. This tentative shuffle towards the public glare is prompted by the fact that PartyGaming, owner of the extraordinarily successful Party Poker website, is in the middle of a strategic review that may lead to a flotation in London.

Investment bankers have been appointed and the outside world is getting a glimpse of the scale of profits being made by internet gambling companies. PartyGaming, according to the insiders, made profits of about $350m (£183m) last year and is on course to reach $500m to $600m this year. That might make the business worth $6bn, or a little over £3bn, enough to qualify for the FTSE 100 index. Four years ago it hadn't even launched Party Poker.

There is one big caveat to this tale of good fortune. The legality of internet gambling in the US is a point on which the operators and the US department of justice cannot agree. So before Bhargava, Dikshit and their colleagues can turn any part of their theoretical fortunes into cash, the investment community has to be convinced that the business is not vulnerable to being closed down overnight in the US, its biggest market.

The signs are good. Sportingbet, a quoted British company, paid £169m last year for one of PartyGaming's rivals, Paradise Poker, and has seen its share price surge 150% since then, as investors wake up to the global online poker revolution.

Bhargava says more than 70,000 people play on Party Poker simultaneously at peak hours; two years ago, the figure was fewer than 2,000. Party Poker makes its money by taking a small slice from each pot - the rake, in the jargon. A dollar here and dollar there add up, particularly when your website runs round the clock.

Unlike Amazon and the other US internet pioneers, PartyGaming was not an original idea. "In early 2000 everybody was talking about Paradise Poker and we saw them and thought 'they're making money, so can we,' " says Bhargava.

The strategy was to launch with a bang - a tournament with a first prize of $1m. At the time, such sums could only be won in the very biggest tournaments in bricks-and-mortar casinos, such as the annual World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, where the entry fee for the main event is $10,000.

PartyGaming's idea was to play a series of online mini-tournaments with small buy-ins, then whittle down the qualifiers to 100 and put them on a cruise ship in the Caribbean to fight it out for the big money. It was an idea in the best traditions of Vegas itself - make it bigger and brasher than anything else.

Credibility

"We put 100 people with their partners on a cruise ship to play in a live final," says Bhargava. "We said live, as opposed to online, even though we were an online site, because that was the only way people could really believe that a new company had paid out $1m in first prize. It was good PR and showed the credibility of our company."

It was expensive PR too. Party Gaming lost about $500,000 on the event but the first PartyPokerMillion was the making of the company. "Credibility of online poker rooms in those days was not the highest," admits Bhargava. "So for players to see that a company had put up money when it was obvious that they were losing money on that particular event was a big thing."

Party Poker has not looked back since. Its next break was the explosion of poker on television in the US, a phenomenon that almost has to be witnessed at first hand to be appreciated. Sports bars will regularly show television coverage of poker tournaments, with under-the-table cameras revealing players' cards, allowing the viewer to know when the innocent-looking guy in seat seven is running a monster bluff.

Hollywood celebrities have jumped on the bandwagon, with the likes of Ben Affleck and Nicole Kidman playing in a tournament that generated a television audience of 13 million. Party Poker's coup was to sign Mike Sexton as its public face. Think of Sexton as a Gary Lineker of televised US poker. Clearly he could not plug the site on TV but Party hammers home its association elsewhere.

"The World Poker Tour going live on TV in April 2003 brought poker from people's kitchen tables into their living rooms," says Bhargava. "People were discussing it at work and so on, and wanting to play the game having seen the TV programme, and we got the word out that if you do participate in an event like this you can do so online. We saw our market share go from up 20% to 50% in a fairly short period."

Bhargava also applied internet marketing techniques, such as offering incentives to outsiders who recruited new players to the site. These affiliates could be existing players, other websites or even online poker bloggers, of which there are hundreds. "We have learned what works online," he says. "These techniques could have been used for selling books online or whatever. We put it to use in poker."

So what of the key issue of the legal status? No poker website dares to base itself in the US, where the Wire Act, forbidding gambling across state lines, is potentially a frightening piece of legislation. Party Poker bases itself in Gibraltar, which is also the home of the online operations of the British bookmakers Ladbrokes and Victor Chandler. It also has a 1,000-strong call centre in Hyderabad in India.

Bhargava's view is that the Wire Act applies to sporting events, not poker, which is deeply embedded in the culture of US colleges and the military. Setting foot in the US holds no fears. "I go to the US very frequently," he says. "I am a Indian passport holder and have a 10-year multiple-entry visa to the US."

One of the aims of the UK gambling bill, currently facing a race to be passed before the election, is to bring online operators on shore, where they can be more closely regulated. Bhargava is rigidly non-committal about the merits of the bill: he sees the advantage of being recognised as a proper industry in a G7 country but is making no promises. He does, though, make one important admission. "We pay very little tax in Gibraltar but would tax prevent us coming on shore? No. Taxes are not driving the issue. Regulation is something that would play a far more important role."

A further worry in the investment community is that online gambling sites might be unwitting participants in money laundering. After all, billions of dollars are being waged in cyberspace. Bhargava argues that rigorous checks are made but that the basic impracticality of laundering money this way should also reassure outsiders and regulators; so, too, that PartyGaming uses respectable international institutions for its banking.

"People keep talking about it, therefore we look at it," he says. "But ask yourself whether it is really possible to launder money this way. Look at what the average value is for deposits. It is very small. What's the maximum? It's not too large. If you send a wire for $50,000 or £50,000, we would not accept it because you do not need $50,000 to play poker.

"People need a $50, $100, $150 deposit to play; $500 can last a player a long time. So would it really be an efficient way of laundering money? Probably not. There must be easier ways than making lots of micro-transactions."

Hackers

He says "maybe a few hundred," players have been banned by Party Poker, mostly for attempted collusion, something that is relatively easy for the software to spot. A bigger danger has been attempted extortion by hackers trying to crash the website. Such attacks have usually been preceded by demands to send money to obscure bank accounts in Russia.

"In early 2004 many sites in online gaming space went down and we went down multiple times," he says. "Since then we have been attacked a few times but we now have systems in place to fend it off."

PartyGaming, as it inches closer to the mainstream investment community, faces another issue of credibility - the fact that Ruth Parasol, another founder and owner of 20% of the shares, made her first fortune in internet pornography. Her husband, Russ DeLeon, also has a stake of the same size, so they are important figures. Parasol, a California lawyer, left the porn business a decade ago but Bhargava also knows the subject cannot be avoided.

"I have known Ruth since early 2000; she has definitively severed her ties with these sorts of people," he says. "That is all history. It's her previous life. If we had characters of that sort associated with the company, I would not be here and 99.9% of the people in our organisation would not be here. I have grown up in an environment where honesty and integrity are extremely important to what we do."

That view, one suspects, will be accepted by investors, especially as PartyGaming is now hiring executives with public-company experience. For example, Richard Segal, the respected former boss of Odeon cinemas, has been installed as chief executive. David Abdoo, Carlton's former company secretary, is also on board.

Those appointments suggest PartyGaming is not simply looking to sell itself to the highest bidder but has ambitions to keep growing. A flotation would give it a currency to buy rivals, and Cassava Enterprises, owner of the 888.com online casino, has been touted as a possibility; Cassava even operates from the same building in Gibraltar.

Even without a deal, the possibilities for PartyGaming, if it can retain its 50% market share in poker, are enormous. China, the land of the world's most enthusiastic gamblers, is an enormous medium-term target. This extraordinary growth story may yet have a long way to go.
